Belga takes pride in being Gilas practice player, leaves World Cup task to Final 12
Having missed the opportunity to be in two FIBA World Cup rosters, one might ask what’s running inside the mind of Gilas Pilipinas back-up center Beau Belga.
Belga will not be part of the Final 12 roster bound for the 2019 FIBA World Cup in China starting this weekend, after being the final cut in a roster hit with injuries and minor issues.
Guiao, Gilas Pilipinas focused on ‘most important game’ vs Italy in FIBA World Cup
Gilas Pilipinas men head coach Yeng Guiao said the team is preparing extra hard for Italy in the upcoming 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup in China, as it could be the “most important game” for the nationals.
The Philippines will square off with the European side on August 31 to open their Group D phase, and Guiao said the squad is extremely focused on scouting Italy and preparing because of the huge repercussions the game may have for the entire group.

Guiao all praises after finally coaching Blatche: ‘He’s a game-changer’
Being able to finally coach Gilas Pilipinas big man Andray Blatche, head coach Yeng Guiao praised his stalwart for leading the team to a big 84-46 win over Qatar in the sixth window of the 2019 FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers.
Blatche looked in ideal form in his return for the nationals, finishing with 17 points, 15 rebounds, 7 assists, 2 steals, and 2 blocks. He was instrumental in the Philippines’ 3rd quarter run which allowed the nationals to pull away as he hit three triples in one stretch.
