Pau Gasol’s message for Philippines
UNICEF Ambassador and Chicago Bulls player Pau Gasol has a message regarding Typhoon Yolanda (Typhoon Haiyan) relief efforts by UNICEF and how we can still help almost a year after lots of children and families were affected by the Typhoon.

The Philippine Basketball Marathon is a project of Bounce Back Ph which aims to raise funds to be donated to Gawad Kalinga’s Operation Walang Iwanan. Through basketball, Bounce Back Ph aims to provide houses to rebuild the lives of the Yolanda survivors and bring back their source of livelihood that will sustain their recovery from this setback.
Target: Break the world record of 112 hours, 13 seconds the Missouri Athletic Club set in St. Louis, Missouri on March 21-25, 2012.

Congratulations Heroes for Hope Charity Sports Auction
Last Saturday November 30, Heroes for Hope Charity Sports Auction raised around P500,000 for the Benefit of Yolanda Survivors. All items that were auctioned were donated by your favorite Pinoy Sports Heroes.
Since not all items were auctioned because of time constraints, there might be an online auction soon!

Mike Cortez pledges P500 per point for Yolanda relief efforts!
Inspired by the $1,000 dollar pledge by Pau Gasol for every point he scored in a game vs Golden State, Mike Cortez of the Meralco Bolts is making his own pledge of P500 for every point he scores not just in 1 game but for the rest of the current PBA Philippine Cup.

The Los Angeles Lakers won against the Golden State Warriors, 102-95 but the bigger news is Pau Gasol scored 24 points which is equivalent to $24,000 dollars in donation ($1000 per point) to UNICEFUSA for Typhoon Yolanda Victims.

FIBA also made a statement:
“FIBA’s thoughts and prayers are with the victims and the people impacted by the typhoon.
The International Basketball Federation is deeply saddened by this tragedy and expresses its condolences to the entire basketball-loving country and to the Samahang Basketbol NG Pilipinas.
To help the recovery and rescue operations, FIBA extended a donation in favour of the victims and encourages private donations to the Red Cross to sustain the relief efforts.”
