– 113 points is the highest score so far in the entire tournament
– Rebounding edge 54-15
– 33 assists by Smart Gilas led by Jimmy Alapag with 8 and Mark Barroca with 7
– Philippines shot 40% from three point range with JV Casio going 3/3
– Philippines shot 67% from the field with Marcus Douthit going 8/11
– Philippines with 26 fastbreak points
– Only negative is the 18 turnovers compared to only 13 by Bahrain

– Still No Lutz and Lassiter for this game
– Marcus Douthit led Smart Gilas with 17 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks
– Chris Tiu was the only other player in double figures with 12 points but committed 5 turnovers
– Philippines only had 14 assists compared to 22 by China
– Philippines committed 14 turnovers which resulted in 21 points off turnovers
– China had 10 steals and 5 blocks
– Smart Gilas only had 2 fast break points compared to 9 by China
– Philippines was held to 8 points in the 2nd quarter
– The only positive is that we held China to 75 points, they scored 101 against Bahrain

Chris Lutz and Marcio Lassiter ruled ineligible

An hour before their 1st game in the FIBA Asia Championship, Smart Gilas Pilipinas found out that Chris Lutz and Marcio Lassiter was ruled ineligible to play by FIBA Asia. Lutz and Lassiter can still play in the upcoming games if they will be able to prove their Citizenship.

The team is now down to 10 players as both Lutz and Lassiter were included in the 12-player lineup submitted as Dylan Ababou and Jason Ballesteros were scratched in the line-up the day before their 1st game.
