Gilas 3×3 squads undefeated after SEA Games competition Day 1
The Gilas Pilipinas men’s and women’s 3×3 squads both got off to a pristine start in the 2019 Southeast Asian Games 3×3 basketball tournaments being held at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
The men’s team, composed of Moala Tautuaa, Jason Perkins, CJ Perez, and Chris Newsome, scored a 4-0 record after Day 1 of competitions.

Gilas Pilipinas lost to Angola in overtime in their 3rd game in the 2019 FIBA World Cup in Foshan, China. Andray Blatche with 23 points, 12 rebounds, 2 assists and 4 steals while CJ Perez with 17 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists for Philippines.

CJ Perez on regulation’s last play: ‘I was supposed to drive’
Gilas Pilipinas had a chance to beat Angola during the regulation of an eventual 84-81 loss in the 2019 FIBA World Cup in China when CJ Perez had the ball with about five seconds left.
But to the shock of most fans in China and elsewhere, Perez did not do much with the time remaining, and heaved a three-pointer from way beyond the arc when he realized the time was running out.
Gilas loses OT heart-breaker to Angola, still winless in World Cup
Gilas Pilipinas engaged in a competitive overtime battle but fell ultimately short against Angola, 81-84 as they concluded Group D first round action in the 2019 FIBA World Cup in Foshan, China.
CJ Perez forced extension with a huge triple late in regulation, but it was Angola’s Yanick Moreira and who kept his poise and delivered the win for the African side.
