Batang Gilas will play in the 2017 SEABA U16 Championship from May 12-18 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. Same date and venue as the 2017 SEABA Championship where Gilas Pilipinas will try to capture the title to qualify for the 2017 FIBA Asia Cup.

Juan Gomez de Liaño of UPIS was named Most Valuable Player in the UAAP Season 79 Mens Juniors Basketball while Kai Sotto of Ateneo was named Rookie of the Year.
Twin Towers for Batang Gilas in 2017
Batang Gilas will have twin towers when they play in 2017, 6’10 Ethan Kirkness and 6’11 Kai Sotto. Both players will turn 15 years old next year and will play for Batang Gilas Under 16 Team.

Filipino-Nigerian AJ Edu who stands 6’9 and is only 16 years old arrived in Manila and is in discussion with Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas or SBP to be part of Batang Gilas program.
2016 FIBA Asia U18 Championship Final Standings
Iran, Japan and South Korea will represent Asia in the 2017 FIBA World U19 World Championship as they finished in the Top 3 of the 2016 FIBA Asia U18 Championship held in Tehran, Iran from July 22-31, 2016. Batang Gilas who represented Philippines finished 7th place.
