PBA 40th Season Opening on October 19 at Philippine Arena
The 40th Season of the Philippine Basketball Association starts on October 19, 2014, 1:30pm at the biggest indoor arena in the World, the Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan which can seat 50,000 PBA Fans.
First matchup of the 2014-2015 Philippine Cup will be the 2 new teams in the PBA: Kia Sorento vs Blackwater Elite at 3pm to be followed by Talk N Text Tropang Texters vs Barangay Ginebra San Miguel at 5:15pm.

Changwon LG Sakers from South Korea defeated Barangay Ginebra San Miguel, 81-76 in an Exhibition Game last September 9, 2014 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

San Mig Super Coffee Mixers Assistant Coach Jeffrey Cariaso is now the Head Coach of Barangay Ginebra San Miguel. Although Jeffrey Cariaso has no head coaching experience, he was a vital part of the recent Championships of San Mig Coffee under Coach Tim Cone.

Slaughter and Lassiter withdraws from Gilas Pilipinas Player Pool
In a separate announcement yesterday, Greg Slaughter of Barangay Ginebra San Miguel and Marcio Lassiter of San Miguel Beermen both announced that they have declined the offer to join the Gilas Pilipinas Player Pool.
Both Greg Slaughter and Marcio Lassiter said that they believe that the original 12 members of Gilas Pilipinas should represent Philippines in the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup and they do not want to take their spots thus their decision to withdraw from the Gilas Pilipinas Player Pool.
