Why Chot Reyes should be retained as Gilas Pilipinas Coach?

Gilas Pilipinas Coach Chot Reyes

We all have been watching and reading comments by many so called experts calling on the resignation of Gilas Pilipinas Head Coach Chot Reyes.

We would like to hear the side of others who want to retain Chot Reyes as Gilas Pilipinas Coach. Why should he be retained as Gilas Pilipinas Coach?

A comment that we read is the experience by Chot Reyes in both the FIBA World Cup and Asian Games will be a great help in future tournaments as long as he learned something from it. Another issue is if we will have a new Head Coach, the players will need to learn a new system again and we do not know if that system will work against our opponents in Asia and the World.

Coach Chot should be retained, because of his dedicated works in order for the Gilas Pilipinas to win , those bashers should realize how Coach Chot made a hard work for our country.

yes your right! they only care for the title. I guess its just a bonus to win it, being involved in the game is enough for being proud of. 🙂

Let us retain Coach Chot Reyes as the national coach of Philippine Basketball Team of the following reasons:
    a. Just started a program which is very effective to international games.
    b. Let him complete or finished the whole program.
    c. Less expensive and we have the luxury of time in the preparation of upcoming very important competition than if we start again to zero.
    d. His accomplishment in recent international competitions are highly acceptable.

We already shouted before that your team need a new coach…but it seems you didn’t respond to the voice of many?!!! Team Pilipinas should excel and it happen by changing a better coach rather than him. Coach Chot is good, but you need a better coach and that’s the bottom line!!!

  8. beatlejohn says:

Those people that want to retain Coach Reyes as team coach in Gilas Pilipinas are those people that doesn’t want a better change!!! 🙁

  9. Don Juan says:

Chot is not fit to coach our national team, he doesn’t have the heart and tactical skills to handle the pressure. A second chance for him will not help our team.

  10. Jet Sitaca says:

Replacing Chot is a band aid solution. Kakasampa lang ng PH ulit sa world stage. All it did was to gauge how good or how bad we are. In retrospect, the TEAM, (including Coach Chot) did well. The Gilas story in both FIBA and Asian Games? TURN OVERS! no Coach tells you to turn over the ball? It’s simply lack of experience. So the Philippines have to swallow this sadness, yup includes Chot. However, if one cannot take the criticisms on lost games, one doesnt deserve praise for won games. (that includes us, the fans). Let Chot take all the lessons and the criticisms you can hurl at it him and see if he has the capacity to overcome it. We will see Our Gilas team is moving on from that, let’s move on with them… why?
    1. Tim Cone believes Chot should stay
    2. Yeng Guiao doesn’t like the job
    3. Everybody else who is good enough is already on the coaching staff
