New Zealand lost to Iran in a tune-up match
Iran defeated New Zealand, 75-72 in a tune-up match held in Riga, Latvia. Iran is preparing for the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Turin while the New Zealand Tall Blacks will compete in the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Manila and will face France on July 7 and Gilas Pilipinas on July 6.
Behnam Yakhchali led Iran with 19 points while Corey Webster led the Tall Blacks with 29 points.
New Zealand played in pocket tournament held in China along with Belarus, Japan, Lithuania, Iran and China and placed 3rd. They beat Belarus, Japan and China but lost to Lithuania. New Zealand beat China again in the Battle for 3rd place.
