Gilas Pilipinas beat Ivory Coast in tune-up game
Back-to-back wins by Gilas Pilipinas as they beat Ivory Coast, 94-83 in their 2nd tune-up game in Spain in preparation for the 2019 FIBA World Cup. Andray Blatche led Philippines with 18 points and also contributed 7 rebounds, 10 assists and 2 steals.
Paul Lee played well with 16 points and was 3/4 from the three-point range. Japeth Aguilar scored 12 points while rookie CJ Perez with 11. Gilas Pilipinas with only 9 players in this game as Gabe Norwood did not play due to a mild groin strain injury.
Ivory Coast led by 9 points at the end of the 1st quarter and by 5, 50-45 at halftime. Gilas Pilipinas buckled down on defense in the 2nd half as they held Ivory Coast to just 8 points in the last quarter.
