FIBA suspends Japan
Just like the Philippines before and Lebanon recently, the Japanese Basketball Association (JBA) was suspended by FIBA.
FIBA suspended Japan because the JBA was unable to
(1) Restructure the JBA to ensure it is fully functional under FIBA’s General Statutes.
(2) Merge the existing two leagues into one that operates under the JBA and plays the game in accordance with the Official Basketball Rules across the country.
(3) Present a concrete sporting plan for the national teams (men and women) beyond 2020.
Japan cannot participate in FIBA tournaments until the suspension is lifted.
