FIBA bans Kiefer Ravena for 18 months
Kiefer Ravena will be ineligible to play for Gilas Pilipinas in any FIBA Tournaments for 18 months after “4-methylhexan-2-amine”, “1,3-dimethylbutylamine”, and “higenamine” (all three are banned substances in the list of the World Anti-Doping Agency) were found in his test samples conducted by FIBA after the Gilas Pilipinas game against Japan last February 25.
According to Ravena, he took a pre-workout drink named DUST without checking the ingredients before the Gilas vs Japan Game in the FIBA World Cup Qualifiers. Kiefer will be suspended from February 25, 2018 to August 24, 2019.
FIBA handed out the final decision to suspend Kiefer last May 22 but the result of the Gilas Pilipinas vs Japan game will not be affected by this violation.
“I will take full responsibility of my actions despite how painful and dreadful it is. I took this drink without analysing what its ingredients are, I am a responsible man. I will face the consequences no matter how painful and life changing they may be.” – said Kiefer Ravena in a statement during a press conference with Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas.
