This twelve is definitely a premium Defensive Team and a FAST QUICK AND has a lot of shooters plus have the size to match up from anybody else.

  9. Anthony Abalos says:

PG – Jayson Castro and Ryan Reyes
SG – Jeff Chan and Gary David/Larry Fonacier
SF – Gabe Norwood and Jared Dillinger/Larry Fonacier
PF – Ranidel De Ocampo, Kelly Williams and Marc Pingris
C – Marcus Douthit, Junemar Fajardo and Greg Slaughter

This is the first time that the lineup will have two reliable centers with Fajardo and Slaughter so you must both include them in the final line uo.

With this line up, you can have only one pg with Jayson Castro since Reyes, Norwood and Dillinger could also back him up. Reyes will be the main small defender and Pingris will be wing defender. Dillinger, Norwood and Williams could also be good defenders.

You can also use designated shooters like Chan, David or Fonacier. It will be a toss up between David and Fonacier. David is a better scorer but Fonacier also has defense.

Those players who are always effective in these tournaments are Douthit, De Ocampo, Williams, Chan, David, Fonacier, Norwood and Dillinger.

Loaded with outside/perimeter shooters, slashers, speedy/athletic guards/swingmen and tall, big frontline/slotmen; the tallest Philippine Team ever assembled that can match up well with China, Iran, Jordan and any other teams in every position – offensively and defensively.

Remember, the international brand of play is immensely different from that of the PBA, with little room for ballhogs and isolation or one-on-one plays; and since size and speed are important considerations, there is a need to leave out other ‘big’ names who may be undersized and could prove to be defensive liabilities, esp. when ranged against bigger guards and forwards.
