11-man Gilas Pilipinas Roster goes to Spain
11 players from the Gilas Pilipinas player pool are on their way to Spain to play in a pocket tournament and a couple of tune-up games in preparation for the 2019 FIBA World Cup in China later this month.
The Gilas players and coaching staff left for Spain at 7:40am Sunday (August 4). They will land in Dubao first then take a connecting flight to Spain.
The 10-man Gilas Pilipinas roster includes Andray Blatche, Mark Barroca, CJ Perez, Robert Bolick, Gabe Norwood, Paul Lee, JP Erram, Japeth Aguilar, Matthew Wright and Beau Belga. Kiefer Ravena is also included in the trip although he will not be able to play since he is still suspended by FIBA.
June Mar Fajardo, Christian Standhardinger, Roger Pogoy and Troy Rosario are included in the Gilas pool but will not join the trip to Spain because of the ongoing PBA Finals between TNT Ka Tropa and San Miguel Beermen.
Marcio Lassiter is still recovering from an injury and will also miss the trip while Raymond Almazan was denied a Visa by Spain.
Gilas Pilipinas will face Congo and Ivory Coast in an exhibition match prior to the mini pocket tournament where they will face Spain, Congo and Ivory Coast in Malaga, Spain.
