    To Disappointed:
And one more thing Mr. Disappointed, why suggest Team Pilipinas not compete in the Jones Cup or the SEA Games. Its in those tournaments na Team Pilipinas nga ang madalas na champion, didnt you know? B-)

ayos na ayos yung strategies ni toroman nung first few games until the semis. Palpak coaching niya vs jordan. Buong 2nd half pinagpipilit niya si Chris tiu, Alapag pati Lassiter eh kitang kita masama laro nila that day. Bakit hindi niya ipasok si Aguilar? Let him use his athleticism kasi anak ng p*tangina naman kinakain na tayo sa rebound eh!! kung ayaw si japeth eh di dapat pinag sabay si williams pati ranidel. di ko alam kung antok si coach rajko kahapon eh. nakakapanghinayang. kulang tayo sa rebound. tapos barroca pati casio ginamit sa 4th, kasama ni japeth, douthit pati ranidel.

    GILAS VS JORDAN>

Always relying on the Imports and Fil-am’s A-game. Aguilar should’ve been in the game playing interior defense helping douthit to dismantle Jordan’s interior passing and offensive rebounds, he would’ve been fresh off the bench considering he didn’t play the last game, compare to Williams who was obviously tired. Lassiter should’ve given a go-signal to take it more against Dagles (i’m not sure of the spelling), who already had 4 fouls with on the last 18mins of the game. Toroman is the best coach we’ve had for Philippine international basketball since Rob Jacobs, but yesterday, he was mediocre for he was outcoached by his counterpart.

What can I say? Our team did their best (at least they think they did), but it wasn’t good enough. We played hard but we didn’t play to our potential, maybe, because of lack of international experience playing together or jelling together for a long time with the same players. I really blame the PBA as it degraded the potentials of our basketball players over the course of basketball development in the Philippines. It is never reason that we are too short or not big enough, because our speed and basketball IQ makes us competitive. We know we are short, so, we should work more hard to make everyone (even our forward and centers) who plays basketball in our country develop more consistent dribbling skills with consistent pull-up jumpers, mid-range jumpers and drive-hard to the basket plays. We should develop a KILLER INSTINCT to avoid playing catch-up games to powerhouse teams in Asia like Iran, China and Korea, or even to an old-tired Jordanian team. To add more validation to my opinion, the Philippine Basketball Association should have a sense of urgency to change its rules to FIBA rules, for our players to have more familiarity, consistency and complexity on international game situations with regularity. Being called a “professional league” is just a name, when we actually don’t need to use the term professional just to make us a basketball country, ALA NBA. Please, if we can just accept our flaws as nation and quit the “sariling-papuri mentality that we injure for so many courses of competition, Philippine basketball can be champions, and it won’t be next year, nor in the next FIBA ASIA, but it will be NOW!!! We all have had enough tears for years.

Mmmh di ko alam yung issue na iyan with PBA since hindi ko alam kung anong epekto kung palitan yung rules nun same with FIBA… wala akong masabi pero gutso ko lang mag-reply…

I’m not sure if we will be champions now but one thing I believe we will be!!!

      • Duane Bishop says:

The changing of PBA rules to FIBA is something that has never been discussed, I just brought it up to consider it as an option.

        • Go Fight! says:

          ah ok

        • nardski says:

i totally agree with you with PBA rules to FIBA rules.. that way we would produce “Pure” shooters like a Caidic na kahit may bantay or wala shoot pa rin kahit good night or off night shoot pa rin… iisa lang ang resulta.. “Shoot” pa rin… What do the European players who play in the NBA have in common? Ans. – their shooting ability.. they (Smart Gilas) should also hire strength and conditioning coaches for “each” player(not “one” for the whole team but one for each player) just like Alex Ariza is for Pacquiao..Dirk Norwitzki has one strength and “conditioning” coach that made him a consistent scoring monster. even Michael Jordan had one.. Kobe Bryant also has one.. this is the only way to improve our tall but sloppy players, they will be able to use muscles they never used before shoot like they never shot before & more importantly control and overcome their nervous tensions.

    STARTERS>
Casio 5’11″ PG – for his dedication to the team and 3pt shooting
    Lassiter 6’2 1/2″ SG – for his hard-nose plays
Lutz 6’4″ SF – speed and defense
De Ocampo 6’6″ PF – off the ball skills and positioning
    Douthit 6’11″ C – of course!
    RESERVES>
Cabagnot 6’0″ PG – play making skills and 20 footers (alapag is aging)
Mercado 6’0″ G – for his strength to drive to the basket
Santos 6′ 4 1/2″ SF – for his length and transition game (more practice)
Aguilar 6’10″ PF – block shots with low-post game improvement
Washinton 6’7″ PF/C – quality mins for douthit
Slaughter 7’0″ C – height, quick drop passes near the rim from teammates
Canelata 6’5″ SF – i know his 3pt shooting, jumping ability to chase driving lay-ups and 15 footers can be good for international games

*Norwood, if Canaleta doesn’t improve in team practices, can play point
Tiu, if one of the guards can’t play due to PBA commitments

    • Go Fight! says:

Huwag kang negative Rako…

  9. Duane Bishop says:

I only wish Alapag were 5 yrs younger. Magaling talaga maglaro…

    • Go Fight! says:

  10. nardski says:

first of all i expected the results of smart gilas. if only the selected pba players joined smart gilas earlier they would have placed higher than 4th place.. The Top ranking officials of the PBA should change the PBA rules to FIBA rules, that’s the only way the Philippine players can adapt and compete with the best of asia and probably produce another Allan Caidic.;.. I was a die hard basketball fan before PBA players started losing badly against ASIAN teams.. i wish the coaching staff should have screened the PBA selection better because there are a lot of PBA players who are not that effective in the PBA but were effective in International brand of basketball such as Kerby Raymundo who in my opinion is “not” consistent in the PBA but was very consistent in FIBA basketball.. Mic Pennisi also is not that effective in PBA but very effective in international basketball… Ron Jacobs was right that without a player in the mold of an Allan Caidic we will not finish first in ASIA no matter how hard we try.. Please to the Philippine Top Ranking Basketball officials if you guys really are serious about change.. please change the PBA rules to FIBA rules because all the PBA does is produce over rated, overpayed, ego-centered, one on one individuals who suck in International Basketball! And please keep Rajko Torroman as Head Coach of Smart Gilas Because unlike our local coaches who has never beaten the mighty China team.. He(Rajko) has!!!!

    • Go Fight! says:

      May point ka…

But masaya ako sa team natin… Sa akin lang naman… Alam ko meron pang mga kulang sa team natin pero practice pa ng mga 10times more at sa tingin ko mapupunan din naman yung iba. =D

Yes please keep Rajko as coach ang laki ng improvement ng team.
