Gilas Pilipinas lost to Mexico in final tune-up game
Mexico defeated Gilas Pilipinas, 84-77 in their final tune-up game before the 2023 FIBA World Cup which starts this Friday, August 25 at the Philippine Arena. Scottie Thompson led Philippines in scoring with 14 points and also finished with 6 rebounds and 5 assists.
Roger Pogoy and Dwight Ramos scored 9 points each for Gilas while Kai Sotto contributed 8 points. Jamie Malonzo also with 8 points. Philippines with 18 assists only in this game.
Game was tied at the half, 51-all but Mexico pulled away at the end of the 3rd quarter, 69-63 and held Gilas Pilipinas to only 26 points in the 2nd half.
Jordan Clarkson did not play in this game as Coach Chot Reyes opted to rest him before the FIBA World Cup, Ray Parks, Thirdy Ravena and Calvin Oftana also did not suit up against Mexico.
