Gilas Pilipinas beat China led by Terrence Romeo
Terrence Romeo with a big game – 26 points and 4 assists (5/7 from 3) as Gilas Pilipinas defeated China, 96-87 in their 1st game of the 2017 FIBA Asia Cup in Beirut, Lebanon.

Christian Standhardinger had a great debut in FIBA Asia with 15 points and 6 rebounds while the best point guard in Asia Jayson Castro with 13 points and 7 assists. Matthew Wright scored 12 points. Roger Pogoy and Raymond Almazan with 9 points each.
Japeth Aguilar with 7 points and 5 big blocks for Gilas. Calvin Abueva was ejected in the 1st quarter because of a headbutt to Li Gen of China. Gilas Pilipinas led by as much as 17 points but China came back in the 4th quarter and took the lead before Terrence Romeo took over the game.
Guo Ailun led China with 18 points but fouled out with still 4 minutes left in the game.
