Batang Gilas lost to Chinese-Taipei, 88-74 in their opening game of the 2016 FIBA Asia U18 Championship in Tehran Iran. Jonas Tibayan led Philippines with 15 points and 6 rebounds.
Chinese-Taipei held Batang Gilas to only 11 points in the 2nd quarter as they led at the half by 20, 49-29. Philippines tried to comeback in the 4th quarter scoring 29 points but still fell short. Batang Gilas committed 24 turnovers.
Rendell Joseph Lee and John Vincent Gallego with 9 points each. John Bryle Bahio with 8 points and 8 rebounds. Joshua Sinclair contributed 6 points and 9 rebounds. Jolo Mendoza with 7 points but was 0/3 from 3.
Kuo-Hao Kao and Sheng-Ju Ting led Chinese-Taipei with 16 points each.
