Batang Gilas beat New Zealand to finish 13th place in FIBA U17 World Cup
Batang Gilas defeated New Zealand, 73-51 in the final day of the 2018 FIBA U17 World Cup as they finished 13th place. Kai Sotto led Philippines again with 22 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks.
Terrence Fortea scored 12 points while RC Calimag, Geo Chiu and Gerry Abadiano with 8 points each for Batang Gilas. Philippines outrebounded New Zealand, 60-43 and they limited the opponent to just 27.3% from the field.
Kai Sotto averaged 16.4 points, 10.6 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks in this tournament.
In 2014, Batang Gilas finished 15th place. Philippines finished higher than China, Egypt and New Zealand.
