Australia defeated Gilas Pilipinas by 16 points
Gilas Pilipinas stayed close against Australia in the 1st half but the Boomers dominated the 2nd half to stay undefeated in the 2019 FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers. June Mar Fajardo led Gilas with 15 points while Cam Gliddon led Australia with 16 points.
No other Gilas player in double figures as Andray Blatche was held to just 8 points. Matthew Wright contributed 9 points while Roger Pogoy with 8. Philippines clearly missed Jayson Castro as Kiefer Ravena and Kevin Alas combined for just 12 points and Gilas with just 8 total assists.
Australia led by just 5 points at the half, 37-32 but outscored Gilas, 26-17 in the 3rd quarter. Philippines just shot 36.8% from the free throw line (7/19) and was outrebounded by the Boomers, 50-30.

Restructuring Gilas…. 1. Dump old Blatche with a new younger naturalized Pinoy and the never-improving Japeth, with Emman, but not the ‘bakla” Slaughter.. 2. Kick out Tratter, Malicsi, Cru– they are never Gilas caliber. Lassiter, Thompson and Rosario taking their places. 3. Hone some more these Castro replacements Ravena and Alas. They still need lotsa sharpening to even come near Jayson’s range.

Blachi is a disgrace of GILAS, observations; very-very slow can’t dribble ball the way like castro, avueva, ravena, white, etc., the size advantage useless can’t penetrate to lay up against opponent useless, if guarded nothing, good only if no guard. Further, suggest ror GILAS, prefer use the small guys to play outside, while the big guys run to the under goal to make follow up in case ball spill out. It is noted always no men at under goal every time the outside shooting done, do not leave under goal no men, so that the possible follow up to shoot ball prevails.
This is a personal observations, unfortunate Castro and the small guy but active from FEU (forget the name) were not there, also ravena was injured.
