Christian Standhardinger approved by FIBA as a naturalized player
Fil-German Christian Standhardiger will play for Gilas Pilipinas in FIBA tournaments not as a local but as a naturalized player. According to Gilas Pilipinas Team Manager Butch Antonio, FIBA already approved the application of Standhardinger to play for the Philippines but as a naturalized player since he was born in Germany and did not get his Philippine Passport before the age of 16.

Canada won their first-ever 2017 FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup title after beating Italy, 79-60 in the Finals held in Cairo, Egypt. R.J. Barrett led Canada 18 points and 12 rebounds and was named Most Valuable Player of the tournament.
