Gilas Pilipinas lost to Congo, 82-71 in the 1st round of the Torneo de Malaga in Spain as part of their preparation for the 2019 FIBA World Cup in China. Robert Bolick led Philippines with 21 points.

With the loss, Gilas Pilipinas lost the chance to face Spain, they will go up against Ivory Coast on Sunday in their final game of the mini pocket tournament.
